The number 99 was not cool until this young punk with a cannon arm took the majors by storm. I know his career was short. But the amount of excitement he generated in those few short years has had no parallel.
Men wanted to be him and women wanted to sleep with him. Your mom wanted to sleep with him, yeah your mom. His strike out of Clue Haywood in the 9th during the epic Indians/Yankees one game playoff series of 89 ranks as one of the greatest moments in baseball history. Here's to you Ricky Vaughn, the sports world needed you, and you did not disappoint.
